Half Day Tour: Cusco City

We are pleased to inform you that we will pick you up at your hotel punctually at approximately 14:00, to begin our tour of the most notable places in Cusco. You will be accompanied by a professional English-speaking guide who will provide you with detailed information throughout the tour.

We will begin our visit exploring the heart of Cusco.

Our first stop will be at the Coricancha Temple, widely known as the Golden Palace. This historical site houses a wealth of meanings, as it represents the worship of various Inca deities, such as Thunder, the Moon, Lightning, the Rainbow, and the Stars. Nowadays, the Temple of Santo Domingo lies above the old Inca temple of Coricancha. We will enjoy its charm and learn about its cultural and historical importance.

We will continue our journey to Sacsayhuaman, an imposing fortress located on top of a mountain with panoramic views of Cusco. This monumental stone structure is an impressive testament to Inca architectural ingenuity and will offer us a unique insight into ancient civilization.

Afterwards, we will head to Qenqo, also known as the Labyrinth. This temple, dedicated to Mother Earth, is a ceremonial center that has been the subject of numerous astronomical studies and celebrations. We will explore its intricate structures and learn about its ceremonial meaning.

Our next stop will be in Pucapucara, an archaeological complex that contains various rooms, interior plazas, aqueducts, viewpoints and paths. This site gives us the opportunity to appreciate urban planning and Inca architecture in all its splendor.

Finally, we will go to the archaeological site of Tambomachay, known as the Baños del Inca. Here, we will explore the water sources and canals that were part of a complex hydraulic system used for rituals and ceremonies.

We will end the tour at approximately 18:00, dropping you off at your hotel.

Considerations: Private Cusco City Tour (Half Day)

Infographic outlining important considerations for a Private Cusco City Tour, such as budgeting for entrance fees, altitude adaptation, and preparing for microclimates. - Magical Cusco Travel Agency

For the safest and most enjoyable experience, please keep the following in mind:

  • Entrance Fees Not Included
The Cusco Tourist Ticket (S/.70) and Coricancha entrance fee (S/.20 for foreigners) are not included. Please bring cash in Peruvian soles, as card payments are not accepted at archaeological sites.
  • Flexible Start Time for Private Tours
Although the standard departure is around 2:00 PM, this is a private tour. We can adapt the start time and pace according to your schedule, hotel location, or arrival plans—just let us know in advance.
  • Altitude Adaptation Advisory
Sites range between 3,400 m and 3,700 m (11,155–12,139 ft). We recommend spending 1–2 days acclimatizing in Cusco before the tour and walking at a relaxed pace, even though the tour is considered easy.
  • Microclimate Preparedness
Cusco’s weather can change quickly. Bring sun protection (hat and sunscreen SPF 35+) and a light rain jacket or poncho, especially during the rainy season.
  • Punctual Coordination Matters
Starting on time helps ensure full coverage of key sites like Tambomachay and Sacsayhuaman. However, as a private service, we adapt the flow of the tour to your rhythm whenever possible.
  • Appropriate Footwear Required
Wear comfortable walking shoes with good grip. Some areas, such as Sacsayhuaman and Qenqo, have uneven stone paths and stairs.
  • Hydration Recommended
Since there are no meal stops included during the tour, we recommend bringing enough water and, if necessary, light snacks so you can stay energized and comfortable throughout the afternoon experience.
