One Day Machu Picchu Tour Itinerary

Machu Picchu Day Trip from Cusco

Your adventure on the Full Day Machu Picchu Tour from Cusco will start early in the morning. We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco around 3:00 am. From Cusco, we will drive for about two hours to Ollantaytambo train station in the Sacred Valley.

At the train station, we will board the Peru Rail or Inca Rail destined for Aguas Calientes. Many tout this ride by train to Machu Picchu as one of the most scenic in the world. It will give you mesmerizing views of the Peruvian landscape for about 4 hours.

Upon our arrival in Aguas Calientes around 9:30 am, we will take a short break. We’ll appreciate the quaint town at the base of Machu Picchu. 

We will then have a brief stop. Here, we will catch a bus. It will take us on a winding 30 minute journey up the mountain to the entrance of the Inca citadel.

By 10:30 am, we will set foot in Machu Picchu. Our tour guide will lead the way, sharing intriguing tales and historical facts about this ancient wonder. You’ll have ample opportunity to visit Machu Picchu’s prominent sites. Additionally, you can also marvel at the ancient stonework, and of course, take those postcard-perfect shots.

Around 2:00 pm, we will start our descent back to Aguas Calientes. Here, you can grab a quick bite or explore the town a bit before our train departure.

By 4:30 pm, we will board our return train to Cusco. You can relax and enjoy the landscapes once more. We expect to arrive back in Cusco by 8:30 pm, concluding a full day of exploration and memories.
